Profile : About Tilly

To look beautiful should not be a luxury, but the right of every woman. Based on this philosophy, the label Tilly was conceptualized, where every piece has unique detailing with elements of freshness and femininity, simple yet distinct, made in good quality imported fabrics and fine workmanship. The overall approach is to create new looks from everyday classic pieces through the cut and detailing, making them timeless items. Majority of the collection consist of a maximum number of 12 pieces per design and Exclusive Editions are only 3-6 pieces per design. All garments are made in Singapore and each piece has to undergo strict quality control in terms of cut, fit and workmanship.

Tilly understands that today’s urban woman desires stylish and comfortable fashion that accentuates her confidence and femininity. To achieve this, Tilly has done extensive research and created four signature body types which are the inspirations behind her designs:

Dainty Diva (the petite and small-built figure)
Leggy Lady (the long legs and straight shaped)
Curvy Queen (the hourglass figure and curvy hips)
Glorious Empress (the generously endowed and slightly rounded tummy)

In each collection there will be certain styles specially created to flatter each body type. Tilly hopes that through certain styles for certain body type, women can learn to change the way they think about their flaws and enjoy dressing up more. “The focus is not to hide your ‘so-called flaws’ with the wrong garments, but to play up your nice features instead.” says Tilly

Background of the Creator

Tilly Soelistyo, the creative director behind Tilly did a study tour in Europe, completed her major in Visual Communication from Seattle and came to Singapore to work in the advertising industry before pursuing her love and passion for fashion. During her teens of being skinny and scrawny added with the frustration and desperation of not being able to find suitable clothing that fits her figure pushed Tilly to design and send her clothes for custom tailoring. The hobby turned worth while, as during her junior year in La Salle College of the Arts, she was one of the top students, became the student representative during the entire course of study and was appointed Vice Chairman for the graduation fashion show. Upon graduation, she worked her way up from being a fashion designer to become the Creative Director for an international ready-to-wear label (Sino London). After garnering enough experience and seeing how women struggle to find certain clothes that fit their body type, Tilly reaffirms her decision to start her own label to offer unique pieces that brings out one’s individuality, promoting comfort and confidence. “We should carry the clothes, not the other way round. Being confident and having a sensible sense of dressing is the key to being attractive.” says Tilly
